About us

Musicians throughout the world are excited about our blue Urtext editions – top quality editions of great classical compositions. We also publish complete editions of the works of various composers, musicological literature and catalogues as well as facsimile editions.

More than 80% of our editions are exported.

Urtext and Henle are synonymous, however the term “Urtext” has been debated ever since it was first used. Yet the idea behind it is simple: the musician is offered a musical text which reflects the composer’s intentions. As market leader our catalogue lists over 1.200 “Urtext” editions.

Henle’s quality standards:

authoritative musical text

markings for practical use

superb engraving

preface in three languages (German, English, French)

critical commentary in two languages (German, English)

durability (paper, binding).

Excellent editions coupled with the best possible customer service – the key to Henle’s success are the people who work for us every day.
