Melanie Spanswick: Women Composers Book 1-3 | A Graded Anthology for Piano
This three-volume series of piano music by women composers is a progressive compendium of educational literature with a broad repertoire from the 17th century to the present day. For each piece, the editor has written short instructions with rehearsal tips as well as biographical notes on the women composers. The collection covers all levels of difficulty from easy (volume 1) to medium (volume 2) to difficult (volume 3) and is an indispensable addition to lessons and concerts.
Sarah Jeffery: My Favourite Melodies - 14 Selected Pieces for treble (alto) recorder and piano
Following her successful soprano recorder volume, Sarah Jeffery now presents ‘My Favourite Melodies’ for treble recorder. This unique collection includes a wide range of pieces, from medieval melodies and Renaissance pieces with their own diminutions to famous baroque works and classical and romantic arrangements. In addition, the volume contains two contemporary compositions that demonstrate the versatile sound spectrum of the alto recorder. Each piece has been carefully selected to encourage enjoyment and to explore the different tonal colours of this versatile instrument.
The accompanying lessons by Sarah Jeffery on YouTube, in which she plays pieces from the book, make it possible to play many parts of the arrangements in a relatively short learning time. The downloadable accompaniments and tips for each piece in the edition are also helpful.

Tim Richards: Beginning Jazz Piano Book 1 and 2
Best-selling author Tim Richards is back with a new jazz method. Aimed at players with a basic piano technique, volume one of this two part method provides an insight into basic jazz harmony and improvisation techniques, including scales, chords and left-hand shapes.
Suitable for piano lessons or self-study, Beginning Jazz Piano contains a mixture of original compositions, traditional standards and new arrangements of well-known jazz songs. Each piece includes an accompanying bass line, audio files and interactive sheet music.
Aimed at players with some piano experience, volume 2 dives into harmony and improvisation, encouraging learners to explore pentatonic scales, modes, arpeggios and broken chords as a way to develop improvisation skills. Other important skills such as accompanying and interpreting lead sheets are also explained, giving learners a good grasp of the basic tools needed to play and improvise in a jazz style.
